3.6L Pentastar V6 Oil Leaks
The 3.6L Pentastar V6 powers many Dodge and Ram models. It has a known oil loss issue. FCA Service Bulletin 09-008-15 covers oil loss on some 2014 Grand Caravan, Journey, Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Ram 1500 models.
Oil often pools on top of the engine, then runs down the back. That can look like a costlier rear seal leak. Our engine repair team finds the true source before we quote the fix.
5.7L HEMI Oil and Fuel Saver Technology
Many Ram 1500, Durango, Charger, and Challenger models use the 5.7L HEMI V8. It shuts off cylinders on the highway to save fuel. The owner’s manual calls this Fuel Saver Technology.
The system runs on engine oil, so the right oil matters. The owner’s manual says a 5.7L HEMI must use SAE 5W-20 oil, or the system may not work right. It also calls for oil approved to Chrysler’s MS-6395 standard. Newer engines may list a different grade, so check your oil cap.

What are common Dodge and Ram problems?
Oil leaks on the 3.6L Pentastar V6 are one of the most common. HEMI V8 owners should watch for ticking or rough idle, often tied to oil. In Tucson, heat also wears out A/C parts, batteries, and hoses faster.
Will independent service void my Dodge or Ram warranty?
No. A federal law, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, says the maker can’t void your warranty just because a local shop did the work. The FTC enforces it.
Keep your receipts and follow the maintenance schedule. Repairs covered by the factory warranty should still go to a dealer, since the maker pays for them there.
Can Parker perform Dodge or Ram recall repairs?
No. Only Dodge and Ram dealers can do recall repairs, and they do them free. You can check your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup.
